Ames is proud of its long-standing environmental stewardship, and one example can be seen in our wood handle production. Many of our tools feature Northern Ash or Hickory handles. These handles are produced by our wood mills that are located in a specific region of the Appalachian Mountains distinguished as “verified sustainable” using US Forestry Service data. In that region, forests naturally replenish at a rate of 2.29 trees for every tree harvested, which occurs without manual replanting efforts or chemical applications.
